Abstract.
Suppose we are given a family C_t of plane projective curves depending on a local parameter t, such that at t=0 the family degenerates.
Our aim is to get the braid monodromy for C_\eps from the braid monodromy of C_0 and suitable restrictions on the family.
In fact we can give a result concerning plane curves which arise as branch curves of quadruple covers.
