Abstract: Nonstandard Analysis was introduced around 1960 by Robinson. It allows you to do analysis using a rigorous notion of infinitesimal elements. In this talk I will give an overview of joint work with Lars Brünjes where we applied nonstandard techniques of Robinson to modern algebraic geometry.
